Pomegranate Detox Tea

April 24, 2016 by Ana-Maria 1 Comment

The days are getting shorter now, but there’s nothing more calming than watching the wonderful pink shades of sunset while sipping a delicious flavored tea, feeling the whole body become restored and hydrated.

This is one of my favorite detox teas and it will leave you feeling so good after drinking it. Make sure to try this!

Ending your day with a detoxifying tea is the best thing you can offer your cells because you not only cleanse the toxins accumulated over the day, but also nourish them with the right ingredients for a restorative and regenerating night’s sleep.

In the summertime I like to handpick fresh herbs from the farmers’ market and dry them in the sunlight on my balcony. Then I store them carefully in airtight containers and use them to make natural tea drinks during the winter. I don’t usually buy tea bags from the supermarket, because they are treated with toxic chemicals such as epichlorohydrin (also used as a pesticide), so I prefer to make my own tea and add extra ingredients for improving its detoxifying and healing benefits.

My favorite plant is horsetail, because it has such amazing health benefits. Horsetail has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antimicrobial and diuretic effects, cleansing your body of toxins, and also hydrating and healing your cells, while creating the right environment for them to detoxify and regenerate completely.

Horsetail tea has a neutral taste and mild grassy flavor, so it can be combined with other ingredients for creating a flavorful tea. Nature is always an inspiration to me, so I created this tea in the colors of the sunset, because I drink it while watching the setting sun and thinking of all the good things that happened to me throughout the day.

I use fresh pomegranate juice, because it has exceptional antioxidant and cancer-fighting properties, which help the liver neutralize toxins, Lemon is used for its citrus flavor, as well as its high levels of antioxidant vitamin C and the calming effect of its oils. And mint is great for stimulating digestion and for its refreshing, cooling flavor.

They make a great combination, because the sweetness of pomegranate is perfectly balanced by the sourness of lemon, and creates a delicious and gorgeous-colored pink evening drink.
