Healthy Dinner Ideas

Parsley Detox Wrap

It might look difficult to stay on a healthy diet if you are in a hurry or have a very busy day at the office. It’s very easy to go grab some junk food from the closest store, feeling guilty and promising yourself you’ll only do this once. But here it comes another busy day, another junk food session and you’ll soon notice that your immune system is failing, the stress is more overwhelming than ever, your energy is low and you’ve gained weight. Want to avoid this? Plan ahead for simple, nourishing and easy made meals.

I just can't get enough of this Parsley Detox Wrap. It's become my go-to when I need a quick but satisfying lunch either on the go or at home.

You might think that wraps and sandwiches are far from being detox food, but if you pick up the right ingredients they’ll switch easily from junk food to nourishing food. This parsley wrap has everything you need to face a busy day at work – fresh ingredients to give you energy, healthy fats to nourish you brain and fiber to give you satiety until you’re home for dinner. It is also loaded with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants to support your body’s natural detox function.

Parsley Wrap Ingredients

I always have fresh parsley in my fridge and add it to almost everything from curries to sandwiches and dips. But when I feel like giving a real treat to my body, I make a parsley salad, in which I add other fresh and nourishing ingredients – tomatoes, radishes, avocado, nuts and seeds. One day I was in a hurry and didn’t have time to eat my salad, so I wrapped it in a whole wheat tortilla and had it later for lunch – it was delicious and filling!

Parsley Wrap In Hand

It might be less popular than other greens, but parsley should definitely stay among the superfoods because of its highly nutritious properties. It is a very cheap ingredient, available year round, so we should all eat more parsley than just having it sprinkled on some foods. It contains two important compounds – volatile oil components and flavonoids. One of its volatile oil compounds called myristicin has anti-tumoral properties. The flavonoids in parsley, along with its high content of vitamin C, act as antioxidants, lowering the risk of chronic disease like colon cancer, diabetes, and asthma. Parsley also contains beta-carotene, another powerful antioxidant which is better absorbed by our bodies if combined with a healthy fat like avocado or extra virgin olive oil.
