Cabbage Weight Loss Soup



1 medium cabbage head, finely chopped

1 yellow onion, finely diced

1 can tomatoes or 2 ripe tomatoes, grated

4 cups purified water or low sodium vegetable stock

1 tsp turmeric powder

1/2 tsp fennel seeds

1/2 tsp cumin powder

1/2 tsp caraway seeds

1/4 tsp red chili flakes

Freshly ground black pepper

1/4 tsp sea salt

1 tsp coconut oil


  1. In a large soup pot, heat the coconut oil over low heat, add the diced onion, cumin, caraway, chili, fennel seeds and turmeric, and cook for two minutes, stirring frequently.
  2. Add the cabbage and cook for five minutes, stirring every now and then.
  3. Add the purified water/vegetable stock and tomatoes, mix to combine, bring to boil, then cover the pot with a lid and simmer for 15-20 minutes.
  4. Serve warm or cold. The soup keeps for up to a week in the refrigerator.
