Superpowered Tea

Iced Ginger, Orange and Turmeric Tea to Fight Inflammation

By Mia

On hot summer days, staying hydrated is the most important step to keeping your cells healthy and running the way they should. Personally, I think water is a little boring, so I like to take summer drinks to the next level, improving their nutritional value and their flavor using healing spices and roots, fresh juices, and refreshing herbal teas.

Loving this iced turmeric tea right now. It’s healing and super refreshing!

This cooling iced turmeric tea is a combination of antioxidant and anti-inflammatory ingredients, with a fabulous flavor and lots of benefits to your health if enjoyed often.

I tend to add turmeric to just about every drink or meal I make. I just love the peppery taste, and I feel so good about the extra nutrients! Turmeric tea is a great way to get the goodies offered by this root, which has long been used in traditional medicine because of its strong anti-inflammatory action.

While turmeric has been touted as a remedy for inflammatory bowel disease, menstrual problems, toothaches, and more, there are studies that indicate that it’s actually a powerful tumor growth and metastases-inhibiting agent. More research is needed on that front, but for the time being it certainly looks like turmeric is a valuable addition to anyone’s diet.

I love to combine turmeric with other nourishing and healing ingredients, and ginger is another one of my favorites. Ginger’s pungent, spicy flavor and refreshing fragrance helps counter the bitterness in turmeric, and the two work well together in recipes like this turmeric tea.

Gingerol, the active substance in ginger, is soothing to the digestive system and boasts properties that protect your cells from oxidative stress. Ginger’s anti-inflammatory properties may also help prevent chronic disease, so it rounds out the powerful healing qualities of this drink.

If you like your summer drinks spunky and with some personality, you’ll fall in love with this tea from the first sip. The tart-sweetness of the orange helps to balance the bitterness of the turmeric, while ginger adds a spicy flavor that makes this tea so special. Add a few mint leaves for an extra refreshing flavor.
